The twin towers should be rebuilt because the twin towers were a national symbol of America, tall and prospering. Ever since they’ve been taken down in 9/11 and replaced with some ugly buildings, I don’t know what America even is anymore. The twin towers were the national icon of America, heck I’d try to work there if it was rebuilt. America isn’t whole without the two towers of steel. The problem with the twin towers was the mistake of sending everyone back up when a plane hit one of the towers, but now we know if something like a loud bang happens, evacuate. The stairs were okay, but need to be a bit wider. Please bring back America’s meaning, through the rebuilding of the twin towers.

Hello I’m Jack. I’m a 14 year old teenager from Chicago. Growing up around a big city I’m used to seeing big buildings such as the Willis Tower that we have here. Ever since I had visited New York in 2019 I’ve been obsessed with the old Twin Towers. When I visited Ground Zero I thought that something was definitely missing. I’ve been asking the question, when will they rebuild the Twin Towers? forever now. Me being born in 2007 I was never alive to witness and experience a staple of American history and I think 2021 is finally that year that I get to experience it. Long live the Twin Towers!!!!!!!!

It makes no sense whatsoever that such iconic buildings that were so central to defining New Yorkʼs worldwide renowned skyline have not been rebuilt. That should have been the priority from the get-go, if the wounds and the trauma were to heal and the victims truly honored by not allowing the terror that took their lives to triumph in their objective to leave New Yorkʼs identity permanently maimed with a conspicuous indelible scar. It is impossible to restore the victimsʼ lives, and they obviously deserve the most dignified memorial so that their horrible loss and sacrifice will never be forgotten. But the Twin Towers can and should rise back from their ashes like the mythological phoenix, as the most powerful and symbolic reassertion of the American peopleʼs determination.

The Twin Towers are the symbol of New York and America for the whole world. Their restoration will be the best memorial to the endurance and firmness of the American spirit and Western civilization.

As I sit here writing this, I’m listening to “How Deep is Your Love”, a song that played at the World Trade Center for many years and during the attacks. Growing up I don’t remember visiting the Twins, but I found out recently through my mom that I did as a baby. I’ve been to the new complex of course, but the new buildings don’t do any justice for me. America lost a lot more than it gained with the policies put in place, but not more than the void that sits over the new site. One WTC just doesn’t do it for me as much as I want to say it would. Of course now they’ll never have the chance since the site is almost finished, and as weird as this sounds I hope the Twins are rebuilt elsewhere. I want to see them again with my own eyes.

I don’t live in Manhattan, So I don’t know what the citizens of USA think when they look across Hudson river at Manhattan skyline. What I see as a guy who never had a chance to see Twins live, is a ordinary city with shity glass buildings that are being built in every street of the world. One Wtc is actually as well as it looks, smaller than original Wtc. It’s that ugly antenna that makes it look tall. I don’t wanna even talk about it’s ugly design. It might fit with some other city, but NOT New York. What I would love to see, what would make me a happiest man in Europe, is to see Twin towers Again dominating the skyline, higher than before, to put those ugly Larry Silverstein’s buildings in a shadow that all the New Yorkers grew up with. Two giant symbols of power and USA . . .

I’m born 1 years and one month after the towers have been destroy. When I was a child the view of the plane crash into the tower afraid and estonished me. At the time it was impossible two towers like them, it seem to me like a dream and keep looking at them. I pray for all the people who die that day. Few year later I keep looking at this beautiful tower who represent really well New-York of the end of 20’s century. We must rebuild the towers if it’s not at WTC it will be on the other side of the Hudson River in New Jersey or the other side of Manhattan Island or maybe an other western country. But I think 20 years after the attack in a world of geopolitic tension and mulitplication of terrorist attack in Europe. We must show strong we are than ever. We have to rebuild the towers. The new should be without the flaw of their time (wind problem, structure problem etc). We can construct modern twin towers or with the original architecture. I hope, I can go to New York City one day or any where else, Titanic will be rebuild. We can hope the same things for the Twin Towers.

Even though time goes, WTC really did symbolise the skyline of NYC, the sight of two skyscrapers and the statue of liberty really did symbolise the morale of Manhattan. I hope this Plan goes forward and WTC 2 can go ahead

The twin towers where the premier symbol of American prosperity and economic might. By not rebuilding them, we have allowed our enemies to change our way of life. Instead we have built a single tower that was built around fear. We cannot allow our way of life to be altered by cowards. The Twin Towers should have been rebuilt 15 years ago.

I live near Venice (was born on 1977). My aunt, was born in Ohio, and since I was child, she spoke to me of NYC and the skyline of Manhattan. I received sometimes from her, postcards with photo of the Twin Towers. Since then I started to love those towers. I never had the opportunity to go and see them. On 9/11 2001, my dream was broken. And my heart was broken, for the victims of that tragedy, and because I realized that I could never see that magnificent towers. I think Twin Towers, those Twin Towers, designed by Minoru Yamasaki, was one of the most beautiful architectures been ever built in the world, perhaps the most beautiful in absolute. Nothing like that has ever been made, neither before nor after. They were masterpieces of art. So please, rebuild them, a perfect replica, thank you

The Twin Towers were a symbol of both New York but also of the USA. When you saw the towers in movies you knew exactly where you were. Please bring them back.

The Twin Towers were bold, iconic and striking. They have to be rebuilt to restore the skyline once and for all, the skyline needs replica twin towers.

  • signature permalink Dan Spellacy * 9/22/2020   All Other Americans

As a former Staten Islander the Twin Towers were always in view and what defined New York City and ultimately what made our city skyline far different from anywhere on the planet. I would love to see these beautiful buildings restored as monuments of remembrance and not to be occupied. By doing this we can restore our skyline with also paying respects to the lives lost that day. People say to never forget, but if there are two monuments there it would be difficult to forget.

It would be restoring to see twins of the new design. It would show that the US doesn’t have to be defaced due to terrorism.

Rebuilding the twin towers is the only way for America to truly heal. Time alone will not do it. The new towers and fountains in the area do not do it justice. Rebuilding the towers bigger and stronger is the ultimate F you to enemies of peace and love for all people. It is also the ultimate memorial to the people lost. A lot better than some fountains with their names on it. However, if it’s possible, the towers should be built on top of the fountains, with the bottom being open air so the fountains can still be there. The iconic entry arches could be perfect for this too. Just without the glass, furniture, and floors behind them until 3 stories up. I might be rich from my video game company some day. I’d like to buy the land and build it.

NYC’s skyline is not the same without the majestic twin towers gracing it. We as New Yorkers hope that our elected officials will listen and do the right thing and rebuild the twin towers bigger and stronger than ever and show those who hate our great nation that we will never be defeated because we are NY STRONG!

The Twin Towers were among the most iconic buildings in the world and New York, the United States and the entire world is not the same without them. The Twin Towers were beautiful buildings both in the day and at night – they were a simplistic yet sophisticated design starting at the ground with their iconic steel trees. I sincerely hope that new Twin Towers will one day be constructed and that the New York skyline will be restored. It is terrible that the Twin Towers have been absent from our world for nineteen years now and I hope that one day this petition is submitted to the United States Government and will lead to the resurrection of two of the greatest towers in the world.

On September 11th, America lost her innocence and entered a decade of paranoia, only inflamed by the Housing Bubble bursting in 2008-09. Nothing was the same after the attack, and our elected officials ignored the people and implemented a plan at Ground Zero that did not represent what we wanted. One World Trade Center symbolizes the bourgeois class, and how New York changed and has become a playground for the rich in one way or another. The Towers on the other hand symbolized Working Class America. The Twin Towers weren’t just “two filing cabinets”, they represented America. The Yin and Yang, per se, a monument for world peace and our dedication to making the world better. This is why I genuinely believe we *need* to rebuild.

I express my full support to the Twin Towers Alliance and would like nothing more than to see the Legendary Twin Towers of New York rebuilt. I was always a fan of the original WTC and like millions of other European people we miss the Twin Towers and would like the trademark of New York to return and restore the Glory of the Manhattan skyline.

  • signature permalink Jacob Durand * 6/29/2020   All Other Americans

The towers should be restored to the smallest details. All I request is that they stand stronger before, stronger perimeter walls, corners, and thick walls guarding the core and emergency staircases at each corner of the core. I have had the idea that they stand 1000 feet taller than the original towers, at 2368 feet. still have the sky lobbies on floors 44 and 78. At the 1368 foot mark (same of the original towers) there would be an observation deck/public area, and the same at 1776 foot mark and a 9/11 memorial/museum at the 2001 foot mark and some other public area at the top floor and the roof. And the antenna on the north tower which would actually be a spire in this case would take the north building to a total height of 2719 feet.

Something about those towers were just so amazing. the skyline is so different without it, i savour any photos you can find of the inside, my auntie bought me a tomb raider gameboy game in around 2000 when she visited, i still have it.
They never should have accepted anything less than a recreation. Trump even tried to do it?? maybe one day </3
Till then i will have my breath taken away every time i see even a photo.

“On September 11, 2001, humanity collapsed into a pancake effect. I know the history of the Twin Towers, from the beginning, through magazines and reports, and here in Gonçalves, everyone is very fond of the imposing structures that we lost on that sunny morning. There is a void that haunts New York, and ours is the only nation, Humanity, which will soon be free of borders and wars. And that void needs to be filled in some way. That new structure has nothing to do with the context It’s ridiculous, and the people of New York don’t deserve it. The towers must be remade, even if I have to use my artistic power to move the world in this battle. The Twin Towers were our most beautiful spiritual and material link. Give it back to us”.

I remember when I first heard about the twin towers when I was a kid, and I was always saddened by the 9/11 tragedy, as my cousin Jimmy Lovero was killed. Also, I always viewed the Twins as a beautiful site, and unfortunately never got the chance to see them, due to me being born a year and half after 9/11. When they were building the new project, I automatically disliked it. As I found it very disrespectful to the American Nation on how people are getting the wrong message, about how we can’t move forward. There is still hope to rebuild these twins, and we need to make this the real WTC, as I don’t like the Freedom Tower, as I don’t think it’s good architecture at all.

I believe the twin towers were beautiful the way they were and building a different building shows that we will come back differently. Had we built the World Trade Center how they were only stronger it would show that once you knock us down we will get right back up!

I think the Twin Towers must be rebuilt because America has finally left the 9/11 era and we will show the world that we recovered from 9/11.

  • signature permalink Goran Bezik 5/9/2020   Citizens of Other Nations

The symbol of America as well as New York are the Twin Towers, and they simply have to be rebuilt. Maybe a monument can be made on top of the buildings. We should definitely start this project stronger and more decisively. Is there such a thing in action?

  • signature permalink Marcel Dorr 5/4/2020   Citizens of Other Nations

The sign of the World Trade Center was the Twin Towers and there are no reasons why they shouldn’t be twins again. Further on, I think it will heal the wounds, if we get them back. And Hey Silverstein loved the look of the Twin Towers as he leased the WTC complex, so I don’t understand why he hasn’t rebuild them.

  • signature permalink Jack Tateronis 5/3/2020   All Other Americans

The loss of the towers was a loss of identity for the city of New York and America. Everyone wants them back. They stood for the principles of this great country, and symbolized our unstoppable economy. Failing to rebuild one of the most culturally significant structures was a huge mistake. It’s time to give people hope and correct this. It’s time to bring them back!

Having the Twin Towers back would show the strength of America. The freedom tower shows we lost. The Twin Towers will show a big middle finger to those people who knocked our buildings down 19 years ago.

  • signature permalink Maxwell Vashakidze 2/29/2020   All Other Americans

The original towers were beautiful buildings, and the new Freedom Tower greatly undermines their beauty. New Yorkers bonded with the Twin Towers and they want them back. The new Freedom Tower is a mere skeleton of the glory and pride that the Twin Towers carried. New York needs them back. They must stand again!

The freedom tower is a beautiful building, but it’s not the world trade center. The freedom tower has less floors than the original twin towers and the proposed twin towers 2. They will NEVER live up to the twins. Rebuild the twin towers. And while you’re at it, get rid of the reform movement.

  • signature permalink Jessica Arnold * 1/17/2020   Metro New Yorkers

    Rebuild the towers!!

  • signature permalink John Gustafson * 1/5/2020   All Other Americans

The towers’ verticals steel tridents from bottom to top gave the twin towers their specific look of impressive height. Added to this feature was the narrow windows, only a shoulder width wide. NYC’s skyline won’t be the same until these twin towers dominate and define lower Manhattan.

  • signature permalink Dale Barling 12/31/2019   Citizens of Other Nations

What the WTC meant to me as an Australian:They symbolize not only NYC but the United States, the uniqueness and history with these majestic structures are something that is nowhere else in the world, since Philippe Petit’s 1974 stunt: performing acrobatics on a thin wire strung between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, to George Willig who climbed the South Tower of the World Trade Center on May 26, 1977, to King Kong and the many movies for which they were a back drop.

They are iconic in every sense. Donald Trump & architect Ken Gardner offered a plan to rebuild them taller and stronger but their idea was ignored. To rebuild would show the world America can’t and won’t be beaten, yet what is there now is the opposite…

  • signature permalink Michael Mathews * 12/19/2019   9/11 Families & Close Friends

Loved the original twin towers. I was in them my brother had a job interview there and a friend and cousin of mine was in the second plane flight 175. This means so much to me and my family to bring back the iconic world trade center.

We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition's purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one's full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
