2006 Bulletins

12/31/06 — Thank you for your support in 2006 and happy 2007! We learned a lot in this past year that will be put to good use in the new one. Rebuilding the real World Trade Center is important for a host of reasons that do not change: the Twin Towers were icons, symbols of a great city and a great country, of cooperation and world peace through harmony and enlightened self-interest; people loved the Towers, people loved working in the Towers, they were part of the fabric of our lives, and they can be rebuilt greater than ever, as the most fitting possible memorial to those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001. In spite of all this, the politicians and bureaucrats who forget from whom they derive their power, pay lip-service to the democratic process while carrying on a disinformation campaign that is shameless. Not one of them has ever bothered to put into words why the will of the people should be overridden. Instead, they keep parroting the nonsense about an inclusive process, while steering clear of the facts.
Tonight is for celebrating, so all we will add is that we are convinced that somewhere in this country is an individual with influence, who will champion this cause without doing a cost/benefit analysis, and we are absolutely, single-mindedly resolved to find that person before it’s too late. And then all those who have been part of the cynical effort to promote this fraud at Ground Zero will be seen for what they are. Happy New Year!

12/30/06 — People who wonder why the Former World Trade Center has taken such a pitiful course will find a clue in Fred Dicker’s column summing up the Pataki years. In Good Riddance, Mr. Dicker, a well-respected observer of New York State politics, helps us to understand how devoid of principle George Pataki is. As a part of the group-think that accepts the “Freedom” Tower as a given, Mr. Dicker doesn’t comment on that aspect of Pataki’s legacy. But, he writes about a man who wasn’t fit to hold office. Unfortunately, New York government is teeming with such people, but it is only going to take one man or woman of character to change everything.

12/22/06 — This Star-Spangled Blunder is a perfect illustration of the insulting, backwards, inside-out, upside-down, through-the-looking glass agenda that is defacing our World Trade Center. But what else can you expect from officials who can’t even understand why the victims of 9/11 should be listed by affiliation and floor, as human beings, instead of statistics?

12/18/06 — Restore America’s Skyline <“http://rg/web/20080613021442/hhttp:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/beam-signing> Knowing the way the drumbeat has been sounding we would have expected most people to be skeptical and not receptive, regardless of how they might have once felt – but it was amazing! We were warmly encouraged by most people, who passed by and nodded in agreement that where the beam really belongs is in new Twin Towers.”

12/16/06 — Six Letters in the NY Post support rebuilding. The letters were in reaction to Pataki’s ridiculous claims made on 12/11/06 that “there is so much emotional understanding of the importance of doing this right.” He followed that with an observation that will come back to haunt him: “…what we’re doing here at the World Trade Center site isn’t just for New Yorkers – it’s for America.” It’s too bad he took that so lightly.

11/26/06 — Please keep it up. <"http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/against-the-odds> …people have succeeded against longer odds than these.” How could something that is the result of deception and disrespect ever honor the fallen or ennoble the living?

11/18/06 — A Reason To Believe http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/a-reason-to-believe No matter what they do, how much concrete they pour, how many steel columns they raise, the wrong plan for the wrong reasons can never be right.

11/17/06 — All it will take a powerful blogger or a wealthy backer to change the course of history. If we only had a Churchill among us, or even a Moynihan, http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/if-we-onlywe wouldn’t have to be fighting this battle.
10/28/06 — Whatever It Takes http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/whatever-it-takesWe heartily thank the free-thinkers who find their way to this site and who, one-by-one, take a stand. It is a testimony to your sense of civic duty that you think your opinion matters, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

10/20/06 Press Release — Twin Towers Advocates Call On Attorney General To Investigate Official Misconduct http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/TwinTowersAlliancePressRelease10-20-06.pdf If they were running a public corporation they would be off to prison or at least out the door. We are prepared to be mischaracterized by some as spoilers and fringe extremists, but that is silly. We’re mainstream New Yorkers and very reluctant activists, but we’re not giving up and can back up all we say. Those who go on the attack against us should be prepared with facts, not innuendo.”

10/20/06 — APPEAL TO ATTORNEY GENERAL SPITZER http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/WHATTHEPEOPLEWANT.pdf We elect politicians who pledge to serve all the people and then they too often decide to represent only certain ones. The Twin Towers were destroyed by people who had nothing but contempt for the democratic process and adhered to an ideology that wants to impose something on people that they would not choose for themselves. Then, right here at home, it is the disdain of officials for what the people want that has so distorted our recovery and the rebuilding of our World Trade Center.

09/18/06 — “Rebuilding the Twin Towers Transcends Politics” | by Justin Ove http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/rebuilding-the-twin-towers-transcends-politics-justin-ove
“There can be no greater indictment of the apathy of the American populace than letting the politicians get away with symbolic murder. I was taught in school that if you perceive a wrong, you fight tooth and nail to see it corrected, much like Jefferson Smith and his never-ending filibuster.”

09/11/06 — Rally in Central Park http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/rally-to-rebuildWe were honored with the following pre-rally message from legendary aerialist, Philippe Petit: “I continue to think your efforts are commendable and worthwhile. . . I remain a champion for the rebuilding of the Twin Towers EVERYDAY!!!”

08/15/06 — So Much For Consensus http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/so-much-for-consensus “As a former employee of the 1st World Trade Center,” Port Authority Police Sgt. Sean Peters writes, “I can recall how… people would arrive on warm sunny days to participate in one of the many scheduled events. Everyone loved the WTC… But the most important reason for rebuilding the Twin Towers is for all the people lost that day… We need to step up and speak for them because they are no longer here to speak for themselves.”

06/05/06– Courage and Consequences http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/courage-and-consequences Theodore Roosevelt said: “I think there is only one quality worse than hardness of heart, and that is softness of head.” We will always have soft targets, because we are free, but we don’t have to have soft heads. That is the legacy of September 11th.

5/22/06 Press Release — “Hanging By A Thread http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.twintowersalliance.com/petition/by-a-thread It’s as if we were invited out to dinner, not allowed to eat, and then presented with the check for everyone else. The entire process has been conducted in a dismissive, upside-down fashion.

5/5/06 – Read Alicia Colon’s terrific column http://web.archive.org/web/20080613021442/http:/www.nysun.com/article/32237 in The New York Sun in support of our efforts. “So far, the will of the people hasn’t amounted to much in this city — but there’s always a first time.”
