The twin towers should be rebuilt because the twin towers were a national symbol of America, tall and prospering. Ever since they’ve been taken down in 9/11 and replaced with some ugly buildings, I don’t know what America even is anymore. The twin towers were the national icon of America, heck I’d try to work there if it was rebuilt. America isn’t whole without the two towers of steel. The problem with the twin towers was the mistake of sending everyone back up when a plane hit one of the towers, but now we know if something like a loud bang happens, evacuate. The stairs were okay, but need to be a bit wider. Please bring back America’s meaning, through the rebuilding of the twin towers.

Hello I’m Jack. I’m a 14 year old teenager from Chicago. Growing up around a big city I’m used to seeing big buildings such as the Willis Tower that we have here. Ever since I had visited New York in 2019 I’ve been obsessed with the old Twin Towers. When I visited Ground Zero I thought that something was definitely missing. I’ve been asking the question, when will they rebuild the Twin Towers? forever now. Me being born in 2007 I was never alive to witness and experience a staple of American history and I think 2021 is finally that year that I get to experience it. Long live the Twin Towers!!!!!!!!

As I sit here writing this, I’m listening to “How Deep is Your Love”, a song that played at the World Trade Center for many years and during the attacks. Growing up I don’t remember visiting the Twins, but I found out recently through my mom that I did as a baby. I’ve been to the new complex of course, but the new buildings don’t do any justice for me. America lost a lot more than it gained with the policies put in place, but not more than the void that sits over the new site. One WTC just doesn’t do it for me as much as I want to say it would. Of course now they’ll never have the chance since the site is almost finished, and as weird as this sounds I hope the Twins are rebuilt elsewhere. I want to see them again with my own eyes.

The twin towers where the premier symbol of American prosperity and economic might. By not rebuilding them, we have allowed our enemies to change our way of life. Instead we have built a single tower that was built around fear. We cannot allow our way of life to be altered by cowards. The Twin Towers should have been rebuilt 15 years ago.

  • signature permalink Dalyn Snell 10/4/2020

Hi, I’m 11 years old. I think that they should be rebuilt because, there is no reason not to!

  • signature permalink Dan Spellacy * 9/22/2020

As a former Staten Islander the Twin Towers were always in view and what defined New York City and ultimately what made our city skyline far different from anywhere on the planet. I would love to see these beautiful buildings restored as monuments of remembrance and not to be occupied. By doing this we can restore our skyline with also paying respects to the lives lost that day. People say to never forget, but if there are two monuments there it would be difficult to forget.

Rebuilding the twin towers is the only way for America to truly heal. Time alone will not do it. The new towers and fountains in the area do not do it justice. Rebuilding the towers bigger and stronger is the ultimate F you to enemies of peace and love for all people. It is also the ultimate memorial to the people lost. A lot better than some fountains with their names on it. However, if it’s possible, the towers should be built on top of the fountains, with the bottom being open air so the fountains can still be there. The iconic entry arches could be perfect for this too. Just without the glass, furniture, and floors behind them until 3 stories up. I might be rich from my video game company some day. I’d like to buy the land and build it.

On September 11th, America lost her innocence and entered a decade of paranoia, only inflamed by the Housing Bubble bursting in 2008-09. Nothing was the same after the attack, and our elected officials ignored the people and implemented a plan at Ground Zero that did not represent what we wanted. One World Trade Center symbolizes the bourgeois class, and how New York changed and has become a playground for the rich in one way or another. The Towers on the other hand symbolized Working Class America. The Twin Towers weren’t just “two filing cabinets”, they represented America. The Yin and Yang, per se, a monument for world peace and our dedication to making the world better. This is why I genuinely believe we *need* to rebuild.

I think we should have rebuilt the iconic twin towers. i grew up loving those towers when i was a kid. I like the new complex but having twins would have been better.

  • signature permalink Jacob Durand * 6/29/2020

The towers should be restored to the smallest details. All I request is that they stand stronger before, stronger perimeter walls, corners, and thick walls guarding the core and emergency staircases at each corner of the core. I have had the idea that they stand 1000 feet taller than the original towers, at 2368 feet. still have the sky lobbies on floors 44 and 78. At the 1368 foot mark (same of the original towers) there would be an observation deck/public area, and the same at 1776 foot mark and a 9/11 memorial/museum at the 2001 foot mark and some other public area at the top floor and the roof. And the antenna on the north tower which would actually be a spire in this case would take the north building to a total height of 2719 feet.

I believe the twin towers were beautiful the way they were and building a different building shows that we will come back differently. Had we built the World Trade Center how they were only stronger it would show that once you knock us down we will get right back up!

  • signature permalink David Esguerra 5/11/2020

I think the Twin Towers must be rebuilt because America has finally left the 9/11 era and we will show the world that we recovered from 9/11.

  • signature permalink Jack Tateronis 5/3/2020

The loss of the towers was a loss of identity for the city of New York and America. Everyone wants them back. They stood for the principles of this great country, and symbolized our unstoppable economy. Failing to rebuild one of the most culturally significant structures was a huge mistake. It’s time to give people hope and correct this. It’s time to bring them back!

  • signature permalink Slyvester Evans * 4/9/2020

The twin towers were an iconic part of not just NYC, but America as a whole. A perfect representation of the American spirit. We need them back!

  • signature permalink Kimberly Geeting * 3/25/2020

New York is not the same without the Twin Towers. They were beautiful buildings, Yamasaki created a beautiful design…please keep it (safety standards of course).

  • signature permalink Logan Dukes 3/14/2020

I didn’t grow up with the Twin Towers and I wish I did. I want the Twin Towers back.

  • signature permalink Tyler Broughton * 3/8/2020

Having the Twin Towers back would show the strength of America. The freedom tower shows we lost. The Twin Towers will show a big middle finger to those people who knocked our buildings down 19 years ago.

  • signature permalink Maxwell Vashakidze 2/29/2020

The original towers were beautiful buildings, and the new Freedom Tower greatly undermines their beauty. New Yorkers bonded with the Twin Towers and they want them back. The new Freedom Tower is a mere skeleton of the glory and pride that the Twin Towers carried. New York needs them back. They must stand again!

  • signature permalink Linea Mahayla 2/26/2020

  • signature permalink Joseph Luciano 2/22/2020

The freedom tower is a beautiful building, but it’s not the world trade center. The freedom tower has less floors than the original twin towers and the proposed twin towers 2. They will NEVER live up to the twins. Rebuild the twin towers. And while you’re at it, get rid of the reform movement.

  • signature permalink John Gustafson * 1/5/2020

The towers’ verticals steel tridents from bottom to top gave the twin towers their specific look of impressive height. Added to this feature was the narrow windows, only a shoulder width wide. NYC’s skyline won’t be the same until these twin towers dominate and define lower Manhattan.

  • signature permalink Chad Sexton * 11/15/2019

The twin towers seemed to be part of the heartbeat of NYC.
    Bring them back!

  • signature permalink Pamela Martinelli * 10/21/2019

America is stronger than terrorism and rebuilding the Twin Towers would be a symbol of it.

  • signature permalink Andrew Nun * 10/10/2019

We need to rebuild the towers. The freedom tower is showing the terrorists they won. It’s not an icon, it symbolizes giving up. The twin towers represent New York. I heard we’re building new World Trade Centers soon, so let’s make them the Twin Towers, New York.

  • signature permalink Noah Milton 10/1/2019

The Towers were an iconic piece of American history and quintessential to the New York skyline. We need to rebuild the towers.

  • signature permalink Aidan Drury * 9/23/2019

I want the original World Trade Center to be built just as much as everyone on the TTA and believe it is missing in our skyline. If they were rebuilt they would be beautiful right next to the One World Trade Center. Nobody is listening to us and what we truly want. We love One World Trade Center but we miss those tall grey rectangular buildings. That’s why we must protest to rebuild them on April 4, 2020, the 46th anniversary of the World Trade Center being complete, at The World Trade Center Plaza — the exact same, no difference: same color, same design, same height, same amount of floors, same everything — so this generation can know their beauty.

  • signature permalink Damon Lewis * 9/15/2019

They were not only New York City’s twin towers they were Americas’s twin towers. Rebuild our twin towers.

  • signature permalink Mantla Try * 9/15/2019

I believe the city of New York is black and white without the towers. Please bring them back!

  • signature permalink Matthew Raffensperger * 9/14/2019

The Twin Towers were what symbolized New York and America. They were in hundreds of movies and when you spotted them you knew exactly where you were. They symbolized much more than just the city of New York they symbolized America and our progress as a nation. If we do not rebuild the twin towers we are allowing the terrible people who committed the attacks to take away a symbol of American unity and freedom forever.

  • signature permalink AJ Skinner * 9/12/2019

I want the Towers back in their rightful places and to see them soaring over America’s skyline yet again and grace the skies with their presence and I pray that they will get it done.

  • signature permalink Bryan Butts * 9/11/2019

Rebuild the towers. That is what the greatest country in the world would do. Anything less is a win for our enemies.

  • signature permalink Kadence Anthony 9/11/2019

I want to have the twin towers built back up even though I wasn’t alive when it happened, but I also think you should have a floor for each hero, and name each floor after them.

  • signature permalink Brett Gragg 8/14/2019

I honestly never saw the Twin Towers since I was very young when the tragedy took place, but I sure would love to see them in person.

  • signature permalink Israel Ovalle * 8/12/2019

We must build them with 120 stories. The Twin Towers is an American symbol that must be rebuilt. Those who lost their lives, deserve better, a lot better. Larry Silverstein is a disgrace.

I think the original twin towers looked very cool. If we can somehow rebuilt the look of the original towers but somehow also make the structural integrity able to withstand an attack of similar proportions, then i’m sure everyone will be happy with the result. I stand with the rebuilding of the towers.

  • signature permalink Nathan Felipe * 6/13/2019

We need the Twin Towers back. I really don’t care what people would say about…we just need a petition to build it.

The Twin Towers were an Icon of our great nation. They truly showed the power and ingenuity of the American People. Rebuilding the Twin Towers would show the world that we won’t be influenced by terrorism! Most people would like to see the towers rebuilt. New York isn’t New York without the Twin Towers.

  • signature permalink James Pete * 3/28/2019

I, like most people never got to see the World Trade Center before 9/11, I believe we should rebuild the World Trade Center complex similar to what it once was. The Twins need to be rebuilt so the NYC skyline can look like it used to.

I fully believe the one way to unite the country is to rebuild. I’m all about bringing the twins back and I’ll do anything to help.

  • signature permalink Zack Woodard * 2/6/2019

I was only two years old on the day of 9/11, and believe it or not, I can remember seeing it on tv that day. I had always been in awe at the towers, but it was not until I was in High School I did a report on them. I had to study the whole World Trade Center Complex and that is when I fell in love with the towers. It’s so sad how much people overlook about them! They were a city within a city. New York seemed to be a much happier place when they were around. I am so in love with the towers that I visit the St.Louis airport terminal, which was designed by the same architech who designed the towers. Many people say that the terminal has a similar feel to the lobby of the original towers. I was so awe struck by that. We need the towers back!

  • signature permalink Chancellor Davis * 2/5/2019

I was born 3 months after 9/11, and I never was never able to witness the beautiful towers that once rose so gallantly above the rest of Lower Manhattan. I am very interested in the Towers, and I would love to see their presence again in a new way. I want to see a similar sight that everyone in this world once saw when they visited this great country. The towers were proud symbols of our great country. If we can rebuild a similar look that New York once had, we can show the world that our country is still strong. I would love to to see two towering twins in the skyline again. If it’s possible, please listen to all of those who want to see this become reality.

  • signature permalink Sebastian Alzate Amaya * 2/5/2019

Being born in 2004 I think I can speak to all born after 2001, The twin towers were what made New York New York. Thousands and practically millions of people around the world would come to see the towers. They were what defined us as Americans. It’s sad to know that We younger generations where robbed of that majestic sight. Now I look at the freedom tower and feel disappointed. It’s sad looking and just not the WORLD TRADE CENTER. Yes it may be taller but how are you gonna compare 1 tower to 2? The freedom tower was built and it just looks sad all the time. A constant stab reminding you of what happened. So please with a desperate cry, do what is right and rebuild the twin towers! Make New York great again!

We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition's purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn't activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one's full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
